At first, a flu can seem like a cold. However the symptoms are often more sudden and severe. Flu’s often include aching muscles and complete exhaustion14. So if it comes on quick and hangs around, chances are you have the flu!

If you're otherwise fit and healthy, there's usually no need to see a doctor if you have the flu. The best remedy is to rest at home, keep warm and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated15. Nasal irrigation, steam treatments and air humidifiers are great for relieving a blocked nose16, or a nasal spray if you want instant relief on the go17.

Antibiotics won’t help the flu as they’re designed to treat bacteria, not a virus. It’s best to save antibiotics for the times when you need it, to avoid building up a resistance to treat an infection18.

With a few hot lemon and honey drinks, you’ll hopefully feel better within a week!
